Solvang Julefest Parade
Celebrate the magic of the season at the beloved Solvang Julefest Parade, where Danish heritage and small-town charm come together in spectacular fashion. Beginning at 11:00 AM on Saturday morning December 5th, parade floats and festive entries wind their way through Solvang’s picturesque village streets, transforming the heart of town into a vibrant celebration of community and culture.
With 400+ participants and more than 50 contingents, the parade is a joyful showcase of marching bands, equestrian groups, costumed performers, local organizations, vintage vehicles, themed floats, and spirited community groups. The sounds of live music and applause fill the air as participants stroll and cruise down Solvang’s iconic main avenues, framed by Danish-style architecture and holiday décor.
The Julefest Parade is more than a procession — it’s a celebration of togetherness. Families line the sidewalks early to secure their viewing spots, children wave at performers, and visitors experience the warm hospitality that defines Solvang during the holidays. The event beautifully blends Scandinavian traditions with Central Coast spirit, creating an atmosphere that feels both timeless and uniquely local.
True to Danish tradition, the parade invites guests to embrace “hygge” — the cozy, joyful feeling of connection and comfort that defines the season. From the festive floats to the friendly faces in the crowd, every moment is designed to bring warmth to your holiday celebration.
And no Julefest Parade would be complete without a special appearance from Mr. Claus himself. After the parade concludes, guests have the opportunity to meet Santa, take photos, and share holiday wishes — a perfect ending to a magical morning in Solvang.
Whether you’re a first-time visitor or a returning guest, the Julefest Parade captures the heart of Solvang’s European-inspired holiday tradition and showcases why this village celebration stands out on the national stage.

Julefest Makers Market
Wednesday’s, December 2nd, 9th, 16th & 23, 2026
Each December, Solvang Park transforms into a festive open-air bazaar that feels straight out of a classic European holiday scene. The Solvang Julefest Makers Market is fashioned after traditional European night markets, blending old-world ambiance with the unique culture and craftsmanship of the Central Coast.
Under twinkling lights and the cool winter sky, visitors wander between stalls of local artisans, makers, and crafters offering:
Handmade holiday gifts and crafts — from small-batch jewelry and textile art to woodwork and ceramics.
A lively, strollable setting that mirrors the interactive and community-centered feel of European markets — where locals and visitors mingle, shop, and enjoy the holiday atmosphere together.
This market doesn’t just sell goods — it evokes a sense of timeless holiday tradition, with an afternoon-to-evening rhythm that encourages lingering under the stars, connecting with makers, and celebrating community. Its starry-night setting and open-air design are key reasons this event resonates with visitors and residents alike when compared to iconic European seasonal markets.
Plus, the Makers Market is intentionally paired with the Solvang Farmer’s Market, creating a festive “shop & stroll” experience that highlights both craftsmanship and local bounty. Together, they capture the authentic charm and spirited community vibe that makes Solvang a standout.
*This event is rain or shine.

Second Thursday at the Museum
Please join us from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday, September 10 for our "Second Thursday at the Museum" event series at the Santa Ynez Chumash Museum and Cultural Center! Our featured speaker this month is award-winning author and filmmaker Gary Robinson.
Gary’s bibliography includes From Warriors to Soldiers, a history of American Indian military service; The Language of Victory, a history of Native American code talkers in WWI and WWII; the launch of the PathFinders imprint for Native Voices Books with the first teen novel to feature a contemporary Native teen as the main character; historical novel series Lands of our Ancestors; and most recently, the Thunder Child Prophecy series.
For this free after-hours event, Gary will be discussing his latest series – and the most ambitious project of his career - the Thunder Child Prophecy. The trilogy’s central character, Billy Buckhorn, is called upon to battle evil Underworld forces intent on invading and ruling the Middle World, and has been described as a “Native American Harry Potter.” Attendees will also be able to enjoy free museum admission to the Permanent Exhibit, Temporary Exhibit, and Cultural Park. Audio tours can be added to your experience for $10 per person.
Admission is free, and no reservation is required.
We hope to see you there!
Fire Wise Meeting
The Santa Ynez Chamber of Commerce is hosting a presentation by the Santa Barbara Fire Safe Council on Thursday, September 10 at 4 pm.
With wildfires a very real threat to our communities, this presentation is for everyone interested in ways to protect their homes from a wildfire. The presentation is free and we are encouraging the public to attend.
With continued high summer temperatures in the Santa Ynez Valley it is evident that the local landscape is brutally dry. We are all too familiar with wildfires that begin from dry, brittle landscapes and move on to devastate homes, businesses and entire communities.
In an effort to inform Valley residents how they can protect their homes and create safer, more resilient properties in the face of a wildfire, the Santa Ynez Chamber of Commerce and Santa Ynez Beautiful are hosting a free presentation, “FIREWISE,” by the FireSafe Council of Santa Barbara County on Thursday, September 10 at 4 pm at the Santa Ynez Community Services District offices, 1070 Faraday St., Santa Ynez.
This timely presentation will include how to reduce fire risk around homes, potentially save on insurance, and improve community safety.
Guest speaker, Kate Furlong, Community Resilience Lead with the Sata Barbara County FireSafe Council, will present science-based strategies to protect homes and increase property survivability during wildfire events. Topics will include defensible space requirements, home hardening best practices, common wildfire vulnerabilities around the home, landscaping considerations for fire prone areas and local wildfire preparedness resources.
This presentation is valuable for homeowners, renters, HOA management, property managers and anyone interested in wildfire preparedness. Wildfires are on the rise and this presentation is an excellent opportunity to learn how to protect your property, family and pets from their devastating effect.
Kate Furlong earned her degree in Environmental Science and Resource Management and has had years of experience in fire ecology, habitat restoration, invasive species management, and community education. After almost losing her family home in the Thomas fire, Kate is passionate about protecting the Santa Barbara County from the devastating impacts of catastrophic wildfires while also encouraging adaptive management to help protect the people, infrastructure, wildlife, and ecosystems of the region.
All community members are encouraged to attend. Seats are limited. If you will be attending, please RSVP to Linda Small, Santa Ynez Valley Chamber, at (805) 350-8517 or director@santaynezca.com
After the meeting, the Chumash Museum will be open from 5-8 pm as part of their “Second Thursday of the Month” event series. A filmmaker and author, Gary Robinson, will be speaking. No RSVP is required.
Both events are free and open to the public
