Going Batty at the Cachuma Nature Center

Every Thursday, Friday and Saturday evening May through August

*Program times vary by week depending on the time of sunset*

Meet at the front entrance of the Nature Center.

Going Batty consists of a weekly talk and observation of local bats during May – August each year. We have two bat boxes where bats live at the nature center. These are wild bats—we never feed or touch the animals.

Guests of Cachuma Lake Recreation Area are welcome to visit our bat boxes at any time during their visit, although they typically only come out about 30 minutes after sunset, and are mostly active here during the warmer months.

This is a living exhibit! Please do not disturb the bats with lights or loud noises.

Keep a 10-15ft distance from bat boxes at all times.

Includes a Docent led talk and Q&A.

After learning about the local bats, we’ll move to the Native Garden to watch as the bats drop out of the bat boxes to feed.

PCPA - Something's Rotten!

Join the Bottom Brothers on a riotous quest to outshine Shakespeare in this uproariously entertaining musical romp.  Something Rotten blends sixteenth-century wit with twenty-first-century Broadway flair to prove that stardom requires kicking up your heels and staying true to yourself.

Embark on a riotous journey as two brothers, Nick and Nigel Bottom, aim to pen the world's first musical and just maybe outshine the Renaissance rockstar known as the bard.  But along the way, the Bottom Brothers realize that stardom ultimately requires kicking up their heels and being true to thine own self. Something Rotten blends sixteenth-century Shakespearean wit with twenty-first-century Broadway flair in this uproariously entertaining romp. Created by Grammy Award-winning songwriter Wayne Kirkpatrick and screenwriters Karey Kirkpatrick and John O’Farrell, Something Rotten was hailed by Time Out New York as "the funniest musical comedy in at least 400 years," proving there’s “nothing’s as amazing as a musical.”

Music in the Garden

Soul Majestic

Roots Reggae

Sun, Aug 24th, 2025 at 3:00 pm

Doors open at 2:30pm - Open seating

Originated on the sandy shores of California, Soul Majestic channels their sunny beach days and bonfire nights into their unique style of reggae music. Look beyond their laid-back vibe, and you’ll find they are ever pushing the boundaries of the genre with an edge that cuts through the smoky haze. Their music blends a deep commitment to roots reggae with a love of hip-hop, R&B/Soul, psychedelic rock, pop and folk music. It’s a new twist on familiar reggae sounds, with conscious, heartfelt, and socially relevant yet timeless messages. Their signature vocal sound features male and female singers trading melodies and soaring harmonies, laced with edgy, crowd hyping dancehall verses and memorable hooks. Epic lead guitar solos wail over a wide range of tight danceable beats, rock flourishes, and heavy-dub interludes that will captivate and move you to dance.

Atterdag Village Event

Atterdag Village Harvest Party Fundraising Event

Please join us on Saturday, September 6th, from 4:00 to 7:30 PM
for an unforgettable evening filled with live music, delicious food and drinks, and great company.

Most importantly, your presence supports Atterdag Village of Solvang’s
vital outreach to vulnerable, low-income seniors throughout the Santa Ynez Valley.

Let’s come together to make a difference in our community.

We look forward to seeing you there!

Why We Raise Funds at the Harvest Party-A Heartfelt Reminder

Join us for a joyful evening as we reflect on the impact we’ve made together in the Santa Ynez Valley and rally support to keep our programs strong for decades to come!

Why Your Support Means Everything

The Annual Harvest Party isn’t just about great food, music, and laughter, it’s about sustaining essential services and spreading hope. Look at the wonderful things your generosity makes possible:

Delivering Over 25,000 Meals a Year

Our Atterdag-At-Home, Meals-on-Wheels program brings more than 25,000 nutritious meals annually to seniors in Solvang, Ballard, Los Olivos, and Santa Ynez—all thanks to the dedication of 200+ community volunteers, serving with heart every single day.

Subsidized Housing, Meals, and Care

Did you know 20% of Atterdag Village residents receive grants for housing, meals, and care? Your contributions help ensure no senior is left behind.·     Skilled Nursing Support

We offer subsidized Skilled Nursing care to low-income seniors who need it most, providing peace of mind to families and dignified support to our neighbors.

Nursing Scholarships

By supporting staff in their nursing studies, we’re nurturing the next generation of caregivers—many of whom will bring their talents back home to serve our community.

Aging in Place Initiatives

Simple construction projects—like ramp and grab rail installations—help local seniors live safely and independently in their homes, aging in the place they cherish.

It All Comes Down to YOU

None of this work would be possible without the generosity and heart of supporters like you. You help keep the lights on, the kitchens warm, and the smiles bright.

We invite you to our Annual Harvest Party to celebrate these achievements and raise the funds we need to keep this vital work going!

Let’s make sure that together, we can support our seniors for decades to come.

We can’t wait to celebrate with you!

The Robert Cray Band - Solvang Theaterfest

Blues icon. Soul man. Rock and roller. Grammy-winner Robert Cray has spent five decades carving out a distinctive space in American music with his soulful voice, searing guitar work, and unmatched integrity.

Raised in Washington, Cray was inspired to pick up the guitar after seeing The Beatles on TV and watching Jimi Hendrix live. Since forming his first band in high school, he has gone on to sell millions of albums, win five Grammy Awards, be inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame, and receive the Americana Music Lifetime Achievement Award.

Cray’s legendary collaborations include work with John Lee Hooker, B.B. King, Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Tina Turner, and the Rolling Stones. His 1986 breakthrough album, Strong Persuader, brought blues and soul to the MTV generation and launched him into international fame, gracing the cover of Rolling Stone and topping charts worldwide.

Over the years, Cray has continued to evolve. His recent albums—In My Soul, Robert Cray & Hi Rhythm, and That’s What I Heard—have been hailed among his best, blending deep Southern soul, funk, blues, and sharp songwriting with timeless relevance.

Now with 19 studio albums under his belt, Cray’s performances remain intense, heartfelt, and powerful. “All these years we have been fortunate to do what we love doing—playing the music we love,” says Cray. “I couldn’t ask for anything more.”

BroBBQ

The BroBBQ

A fundraiser for the Women Winemakers & Culinarians Foundation

At our first fundraiser, a delicious vegetarian Sunday Supper, a few of the Board members’ menfolk had a few comments about the lack of…carnivorous deliciousness. SO, we invited them to put their cooking skills where their mouths are, and…we are proud to announce “The BroBBQ”.

What: Barbecued everything- meats and veggies from the Bros, featuring sauces and spices from Anna Vocino’s Eat Happy Kitchen, dessert from the Bakery Farmstand, and wine from Future Perfect and Seagrape.

Our team of GrillMeisters are locally famous (so we're told!) for their barbecuing skills.  Don Layton, Rafik Tadros, Nate "Tater" Stricker, Loren Tarnquinio, Mike Mesikip, Dan Dominguez, Ryan Layton and Randy Jones will be grilling sausages, elk tips, ribs, tri-tip, tofu (!), brisket, lamb lollipops, artichokes, seasonal veggies and sides!

The Storytellers

Bluegrass, Country Blues, Folk Music

Sun, Jul 13th, 2025 at 3:00 pm

Doors open at 2:30pm - Open seating

The Storytellers is a prominent progressive bluegrass band that has established itself as a creative force in the Southern California Roots Music scene.

They draw from the rich canon of traditional bluegrass, country blues, old-time and folk music as a basis for inspired improvisations and intrepid vocal harmonies. Their strong musical chemistry allows them to bring soulful harmonies, delicate acoustic sensibilities, soaring grooves, tight rhythms, substantive storytelling, and their own bluegrassy magic to every stage they stand on.

The Storytellers has performed at numerous bluegrass festivals, music festivals, and other regional fairs and festivals. The band performed a year-long residency at Treasure Island Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, and in 2023 became the first bluegrass band to perform on NAMM’s premier stage. PCPA - Holmes and Watson

July 11 - 26

Join Dr. Watson in a twisty, tantalizing mystery as he navigates a deadly guessing game to uncover the truth behind three men claiming to be Sherlock Holmes, in Jeffery Hatcher's gripping adaptation of Arthur Conan Doyle's original tale, Holmes and Watson.

Sherlock Holmes is dead. Or at least he is believed to be.  The great detective went over the Reichenbach falls with his nemesis, Professor Moriarty. But his body was never found.  Three years later, Sherlock’s best friend and sidekick, Dr. Watson, receives word that three men claiming to be Sherlock Holmes are being held in an asylum on a remote island.  Watson makes his way to the island to disprove the imposters, but when he arrives nothing is as it seems, and identifying the real Sherlock turns into a deadly guessing game. In this gripping adaptation of Arthur Conan Doyle’s original mystery, Jeffery Hatcher’s Holmes and Watson is a twisty, tantalizing mystery that keeps its characters and audience alike guessing until the final moments.
