The event celebrates the heritage of ranching and horsemanship, featuring approximately 750-800 riders on a 60-mile trek from Santa Barbara into Solvang
The parade typically begins in the mid-afternoon, often timed to start at the conclusion of the Kentucky Derby, roughly between 2:30 PM and 3:45 PM.

Tradition: At the mission, the riders and their horses receive a traditional blessing from a priest. Since 2012, participants have also worn pink to raise funds for the Cancer Foundation of Santa Barbara, raising over $1.7 million to date
