Veterans groups across the Santa Ynez Valley will honor fallen service members with grave decorations, poppy distributions and ceremonies during Memorial Day weekend, May 23-25.

On Saturday, May 23, members of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7139 will place American flags on veterans’ graves at Santa Ines Mission, Chalk Hill, Oak Hill and Saint Marks cemeteries. At Oak Hill Cemetery, more than 900 graves will be decorated starting at 9 a.m. The public is invited to view the observance or assist with the effort.
