Looking for a simple way to give back and keep the Santa Ynez Valley beautiful? The SYV Clean Team is looking for additional volunteers.

The group meets most Saturdays at 8:00 AM for a one-hour cleanup along local roadways. Volunteers are provided with all necessary safety equipment and tools, and each person is assigned a manageable section to support.

The Clean Team is authorized by the County and Caltrans to maintain areas along county roads and portions of Highway 246. It is a meaningful, hands-on way to take care of the place we all share, while connecting with neighbors who care about the community.

Participation is flexible, with no ongoing obligation required.

A direct descendant of Danes from Fjenneslev, Denmark (his grandmother was a Sorensen), he credits his Danish ancestors with his love for music. Looking for a simple way to give back and keep the Santa Ynez Valley beautiful? The SYV Clean Team is looking for additional volunteers.

The group meets most Saturdays at 8:00 AM for a one-hour cleanup along local roadways. Volunteers are provided with all necessary safety equipment and tools, and each person is assigned a manageable section to support.

The Clean Team is authorized by the County and Caltrans to maintain areas along county roads and portions of Highway 246. It is a meaningful, hands-on way to take care of the place we all share, while connecting with neighbors who care about the community.

Participation is flexible, with no ongoing obligation required.

5th Annual Halloween Journey

If you’re looking for a cozy, family friendly way to celebrate the season, this is it.

Halloween Journey is a unique theatrical event designed for young children (2-8 years old) and their families to celebrate the magic and imagination of Halloween through an immersive, age-appropriate interactive experience. The Botanic Garden will be transformed into the home of fairies, pirates, trolls, billy goats, talking trees and the majestic throne of the Pumpkin Queen. This theater experience will lead young children and their families through the garden to experience six vignettes performed by local Santa Ynez Valley performers. 5th Annual Halloween Journey

If you’re looking for a cozy, family friendly way to celebrate the season, this is it.

Halloween Journey is a unique theatrical event designed for young children (2-8 years old) and their families to celebrate the magic and imagination of Halloween through an immersive, age-appropriate interactive experience. The Botanic Garden will be transformed into the home of fairies, pirates, trolls, billy goats, talking trees and the majestic throne of the Pumpkin Queen. This theater experience will lead young children and their families through the garden to experience six vignettes performed by local Santa Ynez Valley performers. Each tale will end with the gift of a small treasure or charm for children to take away.

This year, National Wreaths Across America Day will be held on Saturday, December 19, 2026. Join the more than two million volunteers and supporters who will gather to Remember, Honor and Teach at more than 5,200 participating locations in all 50 states, at sea and abroad.

Ballard Cemetery - volunteers needed to place 929 wreaths on veteran’s graves.

On December 19, 2026 at 10:00 am (Wreath Placement Immediately Following Ceremony), Wreaths Across America will be at Oak Hill Cemetery Ballard, California to Remember and Honor our veterans through the laying of Remembrance wreaths on the graves of our country's fallen heroes and the act of saying the name of each and every veteran aloud.

The hope is to grow the program to include all the valley cemeteries in the future!

Each December, Solvang Park transforms into a festive open-air bazaar that feels straight out of a classic European holiday scene. The Solvang Julefest Makers Market is fashioned after traditional European night markets, blending old-world ambiance with the unique culture and craftsmanship of the Central Coast.

Under twinkling lights and the cool winter sky, visitors wander between stalls of local artisans, makers, and crafters offering:

• Handmade holiday gifts and crafts — from small-batch jewelry and textile art to woodwork and ceramics.

• A lively, strollable setting that mirrors the interactive and community-centered feel of European markets — where locals and visitors mingle, shop, and enjoy the holiday atmosphere together.

This market doesn’t just sell goods — it evokes a sense of timeless holiday tradition, with an afternoon-to-evening rhythm that encourages lingering under the stars, connecting with makers, and celebrating community. Its starry-night setting and open-air design are key reasons this event resonates with visitors and residents alike when compared to iconic European seasonal markets.

Plus, the Makers Market is intentionally paired with the Solvang Farmer’s Market, creating a festive “shop & stroll” experience that highlights both craftsmanship and local bounty. Together, they capture the authentic charm and spirited community vibe that makes Solvang a standout.
